Book Summary

The Boyfriend Experience is a 32-page, full-color, Black-led, neo-noir comic that follows KERON, a master of intimacy, offering “tailored experiences” to powerful women who want more than just sex—they want an escape. CEOs, politicians, even the woman next door—he becomes exactly what they need. But when CHRISTINA, a high-powered client, blurs the line between desire and obsession, their arrangement spirals dangerously out of control, threatening to destroy everything they’ve built.

Set within the world of Philadelphia’s powerful elite class, The Boyfriend Experience is a noir revenge tale about desire, deception and the consequences of the double lives we lead.

    A former HBO Access Fellow and winner of the American Black Film Festival's TV Writing Award sponsored by Issa Rae's ColorCreative and BET. Darnell is a genre-blending writer with a unique voice, a singular ability to craft dynamic characters, and a flair for weaving humor into deeply meaningful material.

    A native of Chester, Pennsylvania, (just outside of Philadelphia) where he grew up among the rich culture of one of America’s biggest cities.

    Darnell has written for shows on: HBO, Hulu (“MIKE”), Amazon Prime and Audible.

    The Boyfriend Experience is his debut comic.
